Hi Jelbin,
Unfortunately there is no such configuration to open the file with a default extension in the Portal Activity Report configuration 
However you can set your environment to open with a default application you prefer, every time the file with the special extension ".DownloadableActivityReport" is trying to be opened 
.
(at least in windows it is possible...)
