Thanks for the quick responses, I did try the same in a different server and the item category did get determined, attaching screen shot of the contact, appreciate if you folks could help me with one last query
In the below screen shot I linked the object id which is the equipment contained in the installed base in the service contract.

Now when I go to my install base category, I am not able to see my service contract assignment
Please advice how to map the same, also advice how will the components explode in the service order if there are multi level components in the install base?
